Part of the Cato College of Education, the UNCC Counseling program trains masters and Phd level counseling students. Dr. Nance is the Director for Clinical Field placements.
As a former member of the UNCC Cato College of Education Diversity Committee Dr. Nance aligns with the committee mission which is dedicated to fostering equity, diversity and social justice for COED faculty, staff, students and the broader Charlotte community. The Diversity Committee aims to disrupt educational inequity through development of an environment of acceptance and respect that values the expression of individual talents and differences, advocation of equitable treatment of all persons, and promotion of education, practice and policy that contributes to a healthy and inclusive workplace, community, and society .
The faculty is committed to integrating teaching, scholarship, research, clinical practice, and service, while promoting a climate of social justice, systemic change and advocacy. This commitment extends to training students to be multiculturally-conscious practitioners and educators who actively engage in critical self-reflection, scholarship, and practice in an effort to effectively transform communities, institutions, and systems.
