Meet Dr. Nance

 
 

John C. Nance PhD, LCMHC-S, NCC, ACS

Within the UNC Charlotte Counseling Program, John is a clinical associate professor, director of clinical field placements.  Also, a counselor & supervisor in private practice working with adult survivors of childhood sexual trauma and torture.  He consults with nonprofit organizations advocating for marginalized individuals and groups. John is a UNC Charlotte double graduate, receiving his Masters in Community Counseling and his PhD in Counseling Education and Supervision. As a member of the American Counseling Association, Dr. Nance currently serves on the ACA Governing Council as the Association for Adult Development and Aging. He also serves as the ACA Governing Council Liaison to the Human Rights Committee which he chaired in 2017-2018. John is also the past chair of the Southern Region for the American Counseling Association, the Association for Adult Development and Aging, North Carolina Counseling Association, and South Carolina counseling Association.
